*NOTE on blade steel.

1045 carbon steel provides a balance of strength and resilience. It is considered a good option for sabers, especially those not intended for heavy use or combat. It is a medium carbon steel with a carbon content of approximately 0.45%. Here are some of the characteristics that make 1045 carbon steel suitable for katanas.

Robustness: 1045 is known for its resilience, which is an important characteristic for blades able to withstand impacts without fracturing, but if target too dense or sub-optimal technique blade can crack.

Ease of Sharpening: Although not as hard as higher carbon steels, 1045 can be sharpened to a sufficient sharpness for many cutting tasks.
